The early identification of children at risk of developmental language disorders using validated parent questionnaires: a partnered approach to childhood well-being

The early identification of children at risk of developmental language disorders using validated parent questionnaires: a partnered approach to childhood well-being (Bélanger, Mayer-Crittenden & Minor-Corriveau, in progress; SSHRC 2018-2023)
This study will help us better understand the development of language disorders in children from age 3 to 7. We are currently in the second year of this longitudinal study.
  • Children were first assessed at 36 months. They participated in a 1-hour language assessment completed by a speech-language pathologist or trained research assistant
  • Parents were asked to complet questionnaires in order to obtain more information on their child's overall development, including various language milestones.
  • The process will be repeated every year until the child is 7 years of age.
  • The information will benefit health care professionals working with preschool and school-aged children.
